By Road

From the M5 south, turn onto the A30 just after Exeter.  Stay on the A30 until the Newquay turning then follow the directions to Padstow (A39) then on to S. Merryn. An alternative route is to come off at Bodmin (A389) and follow directions through Bodmin and Wadebridge to St. Merryn. 

By Air

The nearest airport is Newquay approximately 10 miles away.

You can get the 556 Western Greyhound bus from the airport, a taxi, or hire a car on site which you can book in advance. If you plan to get a taxi it is worth booking in advance although there is a taxi rank there.

  • Ryan Air operates flights from London Stanstead to Newquay.
  • British Airways operates flights between London Gatwick & Newquay
  • Flybe operates flights from Belfast, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Geneva, Glasgow & Southampton
  • Air South West operates flights flights from Bristol, London Gatwick, London City, Glasgow, Manchester, Leeds, Bradford, Newcastle, Plymouth, Dublin & Cork

By Rail

The nearest train station to our area is Bodmin Parkway which is approximately 15 miles away or about 35 minutes from St. Merryn by car.

You will need to get the 555 western greyhound bus from the station to Wadebridge and Padstow. The journey to Padstow is about an hour and you need to check your timings.

General Train Info:
There is only one main train line running through the centre of Cornwall with a few branch lines. The stations are: Saltash, St Germans, Liskeard, Bodmin, Lostwithiel, Par, St Austell, Truro, Redruth, Camborne, Hayle, St Erth, Penzance.

The nearest train station to Padstow is Bodmin Parkway. For Looe branch line, change at Liskeard. For Newquay branch line, change at Par. For Falmouth change at Truro. For St. Ives change at St Erth.

By Bus

The nearest National Express bus stops are at Wadebridge or St Columb Major. You can catch the 554, 555 or 584 buses onwards from there.

The Padstow area (south of the River Camel) is served by 3 buses:

  • 554 - Padstow to St Columb Major via St Merryn
  • 555 - Padstow to Bodmin Parkway station via
  • 556 - Padstow to Newquay via Newquay Airport, following the coast.

North of the river is served by 2 buses:

  • 584 - Wadebridge to Camelford via St Minver, Rock, Trebetherick, Polzeath, Port Isaac and Delabole.
  • 594 - St Columb Major to Boscastle via Wadebridge, St Kew, Camelford, Tintagel, Boscastle.  From Boscastle you can get the 595 to Bude.

By Ferry

The nearest ferry port is at Plymouth which is approximately 50 miles away. The ferry service is provided by Brittany Ferries.There is a bus, train and air service from Plymouth to the Padstow region.
